The Gibb's Beach wave series were all painted on a small stretch of beach in Barbados. The artist spent several years collecting information for these pieces. Waves were studied as they rolled in on the beach sketches were made and hundreds of photos were taken in different light and weather conditions. Later the sketches and photos were studied in the studio and the paintings created by using bits and pieces of the study material collected.
Because of his love for the sea Doug Forsythe often seeks out subject matter like this as the basis for his paintings.
