Inking A Collagraph Plate

#1- First color is applied to the plate with an inking dabber  #2- Other colors are added in a similar fashion and un wanted color is removed by wiping the plate with a clean cloth.  #3 Various areas of the plate are highlighted with a brush  #4 Adding a wash of color to give the print a water-color effect  #5- Mixing color on a glass slab

#6- The rag paper is prepared for printing by soaking with a sponge dampened with water. #7- Excess water is removed with a dry cloth.  #8- The inked plate is carefully positioned on the etching press bed.  #9- The dampened rag paper is carefully placed on the inked plate.  #10-A thick piece of felt is placed on the paper that covers the inked plate.  #11-After the plate-paper-felt sandwich are passed through the etching press the finished print is removed from the plate.
